Hairtastical Day =]

I just recently moved back home from college and one of the most difficult part of adjusting was finding a local hairdresser. I use to go to those trendy salons in West LA/Santa Monica to have my hair cut and colored. So I decided to do a Yelp search in my area to find a new hairstylist and I must say, the new place definitely did not disappoint! I'm happy with the results!! I got my hair colored and cut at this trendy-ish Asian salon....yes I know what you're thinking..."You actually trust FOBs to do your hair?!" Trust me, I was very hesitant, but after reading all the great comments and reviews about this place, I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did!!!!

I have now found a new hairdresser!!! Unfortunately, the place is a lot pricier than I'm use to paying...for cut and color it came out to $110 (without tip). The haircut price was reasonable...but $70 to dye hair?! Especially since my hair is medium length. Oh well...I found a great place to get a haircut. But as for the color...my search continues...lol
Anyway, here's the new do guys...what do ya think? =]
Oh, and right next door to the salon was a cute boutique. Unfortunately, I couldn't find clothes in my size...they were all too big. But I did find these cute earrings that were on sale for only $1!! Talk about a bargain! =]

My Everyday Makeup Bag

I decided to do a blog on the basic everyday makeup/beauty necessities that are in my bag.  This blog is just about the common beauty products I tend to use.  These items are my all time favorites!  And I generally switch it up between high-end or low-end products.  To me, it doesn't matter about the label as long as it works!

A little background about my skin, I don't usually have a lot of acne, but sometimes I have these random spurts of break out areas.  And the pimples/zits I get aren't clusters of tiny little ones, but rather big honkers (I know....totally sucks)....lol!  I try my best to cover up these problem areas.  And personally, I like to keep my make up looking simple and natural.  Once in awhile, I play with colors.  On other people that I put make up on, I like to play it up more. =]

1.  The first product I want to talk about and review is Aveeno's Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15.  This product is amazing!!! My skin tends to get oily and shiny later in the day, so this moisturizer is light and perfect to use every morning.  But in the winter time, my skin gets very dry, so I usually used a thicker heavier creamy based moisturizer.  And the naturally calming feverfew is perfect for my somewhat sensitive skin that gets easily irritated by harsher products.  I've recommended this moisturizer to a few friends and they fell in love with it!  And what is awesome about Aveeno is it isn't ridiculously pricey like some moisturizers you get in department stores.  I think it's around $15 at Target.

2.  The next beauty buy is my absolute favorite!!! I've honestly never found anything else like it!  It's Diorsnow Pure UV Ultra Whitening Spot Corrector with SPF 50.  My skin tends to be fairly light skinned compared to all my ultra tanned friends, so spots and scars tend to be much more apparent on my face.  I decided to do something about it by going to my nearest Sephora to look for some skin lightening products.  One lady recommended I buy this product.  At first, I was hesitant because it was around $42 for this tiny little tube, but I decided to give it a try.  And boy am I glad I did!!  This tiny tube ended up being the best spot concealer I've ever had (trust me, I tried plenty)!  Not only does this corrector lighten up my dark spots and scars, but it also conceals with a light beige tint.  I just love the consistency of it too!  In addition, this remarkable product has SPF 50 to really protect my face from the harsh SoCal UV rays!  My only con about this product is that it has been discontinued by Dior.  I hate when products I love get discontinued.  I'm now down to my last tube.  Hopefully someone at Dior reads this and decides to bring it back...haha

3.  The third product was purchased at a drugstore.  It is Nivea's A Kiss of Flavor Cherry Tinted Lip Care.  This inexpensive chapstick moisturizes my lips and delivers the perfect amount of tinted rosy color.  I love how it makes my lips look healthy and as if I ate red berries.

4.  The fourth beauty item is The Balm Cosmetic's Mary-Lou Manizer (Luminizer/Highlighter).  This really shimmery luminizer delivers a lot of glow to my pale face.  I love how multi-purpose this product is!  I tend to use it to highlight the area right underneath by brows and the inner corners of my eyes to make me look more awake.  This highlighter can also be used to mix in with your blush/bronzer to give your face the luminescent glow or as eyeshadow.  It really brightens up my overall face!

5.  Number five is Sephora's Harmony Trio Bronzer in Apricot.  This very peachy and shimmery bronzer delivers color to the apples of my cheeks.

6.  Like I mentioned earlier, I have very oily shiny skin sometimes, so I started to use Smashbox's Camera Ready Full Coverage Foundation in Light L2  (usually I'm a Fair F1, but because it's summer....I've been tanning).  This foundation is great in making my skin look flawless (esp. in photos!).  It gives just the right amount of coverage without breaking me out.  In fact, I use to use MAC foundation, but the consistency is too thick and heavy, it really wasn't giving my skin any breathing space causing me to breakout.  The foundation starts off as a liquid but dries into a powder...to help me matify my shiny face.

7.  The next product is Prestige's Liquid Eyeliner in Black.  This sponge-like tip applicator is easy to put on and helps make my eyes pop!  You can buy this eyeliner at basically any drugstore for around $7.

8.  Another one of my drugstore favorites is Cover Girl's Fantasic Lash Mascara in Black.  The mascara wand is perfect for my short lashes.  It helps me get every nook and cranny.  But the product claims to curl your lashes.  I'm not sure if it works for others, but it has no curl effect on my stick straight lashes.

9.  I personally tend to have very light colored brows that sometimes does not come out in photos, so I have to draw over my eyebrows.  One great item is MAC's Eyebrow  Pencil in Lingering.  This color is the perfect shade that matches my hair color and skin tone without seeming too fake.  I use it to fill in my brows along with shaping the front of my brows where my brow hair is the lightest.

10.  The final beauty piece is The Balm's Time Balm Concealer in Light.  This little pot has actually lasted me for almost a year and I use it for my under eye area.  I also use it to dot pimples/dark spots.  This concealer is gentle/safe enough to use for daytime and nighttime.  It also has very minimal lightening agents (not as strong as the Dior Spot Corrector I mentioned earlier).  It gives me a little added concealment.

My last product that I forgot to list is actually a talc-free loose mineral powder by Physician's Formula in Creamy Natural.  This big container of loose powder helps to set my concealer and foundation.  It also soaks up any excess oil and doesn't break me out.  The big pot has actually lasted me for a really long time and it is really inexpensive!! You can also find it in drugstores.   This mineral powder helps to put the perfect final touch to my basic everyday look.
